FOREIGN INVESTORS SHOW INTEREST
2000/05/25
Professor Isosceles Vilikazi says that international investors are showing considerable interest in moving their investments from Zimbabwe to Nyamandhlovu.
Among the various parties who have indicated a
desire to invest are Chamadvuka's African Store, formerly of
Shurugwi, and Master Alan Bloggs (9) of Gwanda.
This was announced at a press conference hosted by the Professor
yesterday.
When it was suggested by a sceptical reporter that these were not
exactly
serious investors, Vilikazi replied:
"On the contrary, my dear fellow. They are very serious
indeed. Chamadvuka
has already brought in a lorry load of mielie meal, while young
Bloggs
brought both his piggy bank, and the four pound hammer with which
he
proposes to open it."
It was pointed out that in comparison with the millions of
dollars in
investment money pouring into Ghana, Uganda and Botswana, the
couple of
hundred dollars earmarked for Nyamandhlovu was really rather
small.
"I wouldn't say that," replied the Prof. "It's a
hell of a lot more than is
pouring into Zimbabwe right now."
