Tourism is booming in Nymandhlovu, according to the Nyamandhlovu Cleft Stick
and Messenger.

A recent survey shows that the number of tourists visiting the area has
doubled in the last year. Mr Hospitality Ngwenya, President of the Lower
Gwaai Tourism Promotion Authority, attributes the increase to his recent
campaign to attract new business.

"It has paid off handsomely," he told the NCS&M. Last year, there was only
one tourist in Nymandhlovu. This year, there were two.

Some uncharitable commentators noted that this hardly justified the
promotional trip that Mr Ngwenya took last year. He visited London, Paris,
Rome, New York, San Francisco and Honolulu.

They pointed out that the two tourists were not from any of these places.
They were from Naboomspruit, and the reason they stopped in Nyamandhlovu was
that their bicycle had hit a pothole on the Falls Road, and was in urgent
need of a new front wheel.

Undaunted by these comments, Mr Ngwenya has announced that this year he will
visit Kuala Lumpur, Bali and Japan. He anticipates an even greater increase
in the number of visitors, and has recommended that the stores stock up with
bicycle wheels.

Mr Chainguard Moloyi, proprieter of Nyamandhlovu Engineering and Cycle
Works, was observed late last night to be digging new potholes in the Falls
Road. He was assisted by Ms Delicia Mtuba, proprietress of the Nymandhlovu
Guesthouse and Knockshop (Pvt) Ltd, who also hopes to benefit from these
developments.

Meanwhile, a scandal has erupted around the guesthouse. During a visit last
week, a prominent citizen of Nyamandhlovu was supplied with a condom which
he instantly recognised as being a recycled bicycle tube, cut to length,
with a knot tied at the danger end.

His suspicions were confirmed, when, after the event, he set out for home,
only to discover that the front wheel of his Raleigh Sports had been
rendered tubeless by person or persons unknown.

Nyamandhlovu Police are investigating, but not very hard.
