NCS&M ANNOUNCES INCREASED CIRCULATION
2001-10-24
Latest audited figures show that the
Nyamandhlovu Cleft Stick and Messenger is the fastest growing
newspaper in Zimbabwe.
Government owned papers, like the Herald (Harare) and the
Bulawayo Chronicle continue to lose readership, but the
independent media are doing well.
However, none can match the increase in circulation recorded this
month by the Nymandhlovu Cleft Stick and Messenger. Circulation
has risen by a massive 70 per cent, from 19 to 32 and a third.
(The third arises because one subscriber, Mr Fitness Makakwa,
takes only the sports pages and the girl
on page 3.)
Mr Ballpoint Lumumba, Editor in Chief, ascribes the increase in
circulation to impartial coverage offered by the NCS&M, as
well as its exclusive rights to the story of Gladys Dongo,
currently wreaking havoc in Afghanistan (and a few other places).
Another, somewhat uncharitable, point of view is advanced by Dr
Stethoscope Mpande, District Surgeon for Upper Nyamandhlovu and
the Lower Gwaai.
He reckons that more people are buying the NCS&M because it
is paw-paw season in Matabeleland.
