The Nyamandhlovu Cleft Stick and Messenger reports that protests have taken
place in Pakistan against that country's support for the US campaign against
Afghanistan.

In Islamabad, a crowd of some 1000 angry protesters were finally dispersed
by the authorities, employing 2000 riot police dressed in protective
clothing, using teargas canisters, rubber bullets, batons, helmets and riot
shields. 640 police were injured, while 342 protesters were arrested.

In Karachi, a crowd of 9000 violent protesters were dispersed by Gladys
Dongo and her cricket bat. No one was arrested. Gladys doesn't believe in
taking prisoners.

Gladys was dressed in a black chiffon halter-top, with pleated skirt by Yves
St Laurent, with diamante encrusted bodice, gold stiletto sandals by
Versace, and blue balaclava by Stella McCartney.

Yves St Laurent and Stella McCartney have pointed out that they can't be
held responsible for who might buy and wear their fashions, while George W
Bush has offered Gladys a job as an aircraft carrier.

Postscript: The Pakistani Society for Violent Anti- American protests has
announced that their next rally will take place Friday, at Ward 3C, Karachi
General Hospital. Participants are requested to leave their crutches at the
door, to leave more space for those who will be attending in wheelchairs.

The meeting will commence with a minute of silence for those who won't ever
be able to attend a protest again.

A disgruntled protester was quoted as saying: "Allah is Great. However,
Gladys Dongo is not to be underestimated."
