Speaking from the front line in Afghanistan, Gladys Dongo took time out to
comment on the Commonwealth Mission currently visiting Zimbabwe in order to
assess Mugabe's compliance with the Abuja Agreement.

"-They're a bunch of idiots,"- said Gladys, bluntly. "-They persist in this
absurd pretence that the man is a Head of State and therefore to be
respected. For twenty years they have been fart-arsing around, while the
lot of the average Zimbabwean gets worse and worse. They should have pulled
the rug from under him when he sent the 5th Brigade into Matabeleland, but
they didn't have the balls because it's not fashionable to criticise black
leaders.

"-So what about black PEOPLE, huh? Don't THEY count?"-

Gladys went on to say that every time the Commonwealth - or anybody else -
sat down to negotiate with Mugabe, it was another slap in the face for the
ordinary people. Abuja, coming more than twelve months after the current
anarchy began, was nothing short of ridiculous. By that stage, Mugabe had
already demonstrated that he obeyed no law, legal or moral. Sitting down to
talk with him was about as useful as sealing a bargain with a Xhosa cattle
thief.

She pointed out that the number of innocent civilians slaughtered by
Mugabe's henchmen exceeded by far the number of people killed in the 11
September attack on the World Trade Centre. But nobody made a fuss about
THAT.

"-If he did not enjoy the exalted position of President,"- she said, "-he'd be
in jail, where he belongs. In fact, if he was white, he'd have been
declared a psychopath ages ago."-

She hoped the Commonwealth Mission choked on its cucumber sandwiches.

Asked to comment on the role of SA President Mbeki in all of this, she said
she would prefer not to comment, as the NCS&M is a family newspaper.
