Mr Ballpoint Lumumba, Editor in Chief of the Nyamandhlovu Cleft
Stick and
Messenger, has acknowledged with thanks the offer of kudos from
Mr Nothling.
Unfortunately, we are unfamiliar with kudos in Nyamandhlovu, so
we adjourned
to the PK and looked it up in the Shorter Shorter Oxford
Dictionary. Those
familiar with this edition will know that it is basically the
Shorter Oxford
Dictionary made somewhat shorter because it decreases by one page
each time
someone visits the PK.
The Nyamandhlovu copy starts about halfway through D, (A to C and
the first
half of D having already gone down the longdrop.)
Fortunately, therefore,
the K section is intact, but it didn't feature the word kudos.
The closest we could find was "kudu", a large African
antelope. We have
lots of kudus in Nyamandhlovu, as well as bushbuck, waterbuck,
and the
occasional marauding elephant.
Professor Isosceles Vilakazi has suggested that we ask Mr
Nothling to send
us a couple of cows instead, because then at least we can
purchase another
wife.
